Course Description
Learn the Tips, Tricks, and Secrets of Advanced Process Hazard Analysis Analysts
Learn the tips, tricks, and secrets that professional analysts use to conduct efficient process hazard analyses (PHAs). If you want to avoid variations of the same questions in your PHA meetings, elevate the thoroughness of your PHAs to a new level, and learn how to expedite your meetings and the resolution of action items, then this is the course for you!
Learn New Techniques to Improve Your PHAs
This course will also expand your PHA skills with new techniques such as the interaction matrix and the Dow Fire and Explosion Index.
In This Course You Will Learn:
- Process Section Definition. One key to an efficient analysis is defining process sections to the largest degree possible without making them so large that hazards are overlooked. You will learn how to optimize this process.
- Meeting Conduct.Leadership style can transform a long, rambling, dull meeting into a quick, focused, interesting one. We share experiences and observations from hundreds of PHAs to help you improve your own. We also show you how to "focus" your what-if or hazard and operability (HAZOP) analysis with an interaction matrix.
- Reports and Documentation. Documented PHA results are required by both OSHA and EPA regulators. We will share our insight on how to document work for review in regulatory, public, and legal forums, and we will provide you with a model report.
- Facility Siting Analysis. Few initial PHAs adequately address facility siting. We will review the ways in which OSHA citations suggest that facility siting should be addressed. Through practice sessions and instructor-led examples, you will learn techniques for analyzing facility siting issues in the context of a PHA. These techniques include the Dow Fire and Explosion Index and the use of EPA-mandated hazard assessments in your PHAs.
Stay the Week and Save $250
If you are interested in learning about new methods for hazard evaluation and risk assessment and your company has PHAs dating from 1993 or earlier, you should consider taking Course 114, Management of Change, and Course 112, Revalidating PHAs, which are offered the same week as this course. You will receive a $250 discount for taking all three in the same week. Taking these courses together will ensure that your PHAs use the most up-to-date methods and meet the revalidation requirements of OSHA's and EPA's regulations.
Prerequisite
Previous experience leading HAZOPs, what-if/checklist analyses, and/or failure modes and effects analyses (FMEAs) is required. Previous attendance in Process Hazard Analysis Leader (or equivalent) is strongly recommended.
