Course Description
Effective Management of Change Is a Competitive Business Advantage
In today's world, constant change is part of doing business. Whether it’s updating and modernizing the facility, responding to new customer demands, or meeting the newest regulatory requirements, your organization is in a constant state of flux. Being able to effectively manage change is a requirement and a competitive business advantage.
Focus on Effectiveness and Efficiency
In too many cases, management of change (MOC) programs that were developed in the early 1990s to meet process safety management (PSM) requirements are overly burdensome and often ineffective as a result. Although the techniques covered in this course meet PSM requirements, the focus is on effectiveness and efficiency, not simply complying with regulations.
What the Course Covers
We will help you (1) recognize change and common change initiators, (2) ensure that risks are understood, (3) evaluate controls to manage risk, and (4) follow through to ensure that changes are implemented as intended. The course emphasizes hazard review techniques commonly used to evaluate changes. It also includes sections on improving existing programs for MOC and pre-startup safety review (PSSR), plus special topics such as managing changes during the construction phase of major capital projects, managing personnel changes, and using software systems to manage change.
Workshops Used to Enhance Learning
A combination of workshops and lectures is used to promote interaction among students and enhance learning.
